Buggered: (adj.) also rooted, stuffed, cactus. Australian colloquialism meaning broken, damaged, no longer functional.

Useage: Ruth's steering wheel is buggered. :(

It seemed fine as long as we didn't have the indicator assembly on the steering column, but once we put everything in place (after spending hours filling cracks & repainting the wheel, mind you) we discovered that the splines in the middle of the wheel are almost completely gone.

Still, at least we found out now, rather than when trying to pass a road train doing 120km/hr down the Newell Highway on the way to Dubbo for the nationals. That could have been a disaster!

In other news, the Tech Adviser has decided that his little red car is beyond redemption, so we are now on the lookout for another 65/66 1600. That means the red car is now officially a donor vehicle...with a functioning steering wheel!

A door closes, a window opens...

Awesome, thanks!

The only thing that concerns me about this particular Silvia is this little gem:

"...and seat belts for small kids have been fitted to the rear compartment."

Um, in a car with 2 seats? That's interesting!

Here you go - I finally got off my lazy ass (actually the interior is still at the upholsterer's & the carpet is getting oversewn, so I'm at a bit of a standstill for a few days!)

Is that the original Silvia motor? It looks like an R16.

Yep thats an R16 engine. First used in the Silvia before being put in the fairlady.

Yeah thats the factory silvia steering wheel.

As for the seatbelts in the back, the rear of the car does have a shelf type arrangement that does look seat like. But theres no padding to speak of, so it would be very uncomforable for the kids.
