Nice progress and direction! I have the same Intake on my SR engine. Only mocked up on an engine stand. Same Wastegate as well. Tial makes great bits.
Looking forward to the rest of the engine bay packaging!

Awesome build! Came upon your project writeup on Hybridz but saw that there were no updates for a while. Glad to see the progression!

Ah too cool! I completely forgot I started the build thread over on HybridZ. Welcome to the forums, and nice car list rawzor. looks very similar to mine a year ago minus the GTR. I had a 72 240z that I sold to a friend, but I still have my 1997 240sx.

I really haven't made much progress on the roadster in recent months. Work has been crazy, weather has been crazier. I also got married a couple weeks ago, so preparing for that was our main focus. Also now that the weather has been cooling down, I've been putting some money into the 240sx
to get it ready to rip up the streets.

I did do a bit of welding up under the dash to mount the pedal box. I still have some more brackets to make, but I will do a post on that and my plans soon.

Cheers,
Wade

Yes, the one going into my 70-'2000 car eventually. I'm building 2 cars at once to insure I'm slow, lol.
The SR20det has fully forged internals w/ACL bearings and ARP fasteners throughout. Tomei cams, metal head gasket, lifter guards. Hybrid S13.4 type valve cover w/AN-10 welded fittings. 1000 cc Racing Dynamic injectors.ATI Super Dampener. Lightweight underdrive pulleys. Equal length stainless header w/V-band flanges. Garrett GTX ball bearing turbo (425hp). Tial 44mm gate and Tial BOV.
Engine management is AEM V2 stand alone using a Chase Bays Mil-spec full harness. All hoses and lines are black AN -10 and -8.

I've got a few trannys to use. One is a Z32 five speed and another is the SR20 S15 six speed ,both with lightweight flywheels and performance clutch systems.

Beautiful! Custom exhaust piping always looks so cool. Pushrod suspension definitely would be an awesome sight to see in a modified roadster. Especially with the limited space for normal coilovers. Something like this?

Daaaaaaang Vinnyz. That is one good looking engine! What are your power goals? That setup is going to RIP!

Thanks ACote! Yep that is very similar to what i have in my head. I think it would be pretty cool to have the coilovers on display in a little convertible. Can't wait to actually get some time to spend working on this thing again.

I dig that inboard coil0ver design. Perhaps it'll fit within a hidden panel between trunk wall and top down space?

HP goals beebo will be under 425hp.

Wow, I can't even imagine 425hp in a roadster. i have around that much to the wheels in my 240sx, and that car is the reason my HP goals for the roadster dropped from 350 back down to stock-ish SR levels. It really is crazy, and it gets to the point where it's hellish to drive on the streets. I don't think this car will ever be out of the garage without me driving it on a gorgeous day, so the soft top frame and windows were given away to other 311s forum members. plenty of room for the coilovers.

This Thanksgiving was the first time we didn't travel and spend with family, really low-key. I had a 4 day weekend with nothing going on. No work, no travel, no family, no guests, no plans.... ROADSTER TIME!!! I have been determined to get the actual SR into the car, clean up the garage, and get both the roadster and the 240sx in the garage before the end of the year. I pulled the mock engine out of the roadster, and prepped the engine bay to receive the SR20. This involved patching up the sheet metal in the fire wall that I cut out for the pedal box, some precision sledge hammering around the transmission tunnel and the drivers side fender wells where there's barely enough room for the turbo, and a few coats of grey POR15. I like POR15 because despite rushed prep-work, it sticks like nothing else. Also, I think the grey will mesh nicely with the eventual sora blue exterior. I half-ass reassembled the SR on the engine stand just to grab some pictures, and cleaned and painted the transmission. One of the press-fit coolant fittings was just gross, and I heard a lot of talk about once you press them back into the block, they leak. So, I tapped this hole a 1/2" pipe thread will find a fitting after the fact that works. I think within a couple weeks, I will be able to find the time to bolt the engine, clutch, and transmission together, and install it into the car. The clutch is the competition clutch 'white bunny' upgrade clutch which I think is a larger diameter clutch fitted to the SR which can handle much more power than stock. It came with one of the SR parts bins that I bought off of CL. I've also been selling off a bunch of SR parts that were either duplicates, or that I know I won't be using to recoup some of the money I've spent on this build. Anyways, I have a few pictures for y'all, and hope to have many more before of the year.

IT'S IN!!! What a long day. I was determined to get the engine in the car, and I did. New pilot bushing in the crank, new throwout bearing on the clutch fork, and everything was cleaned and greased as it should be. Using a ratchet strap, I secured the flywheel to the head, and torqued the bolts to 100 ft/lbs. Then I cleaned everything with acetone, and installed the clutch disc and pressure plate. The clutch alignment tool was pretty shitty, so mating the transmission up to engine took several attempts, but I got it on. Then I slowly stabbed it into the car. I'm STOKED!!! 8)

Thanks Matthew! At my pace, its at least 2 years from being on the road haha. Now that I have some proper weight on the front end, my focus now will be on the rear end. I need to correct some mistakes i made on the rear 3 link, finishing the watts link, and design the rear suspension bits for the inboard coilover. How is yours coming along? I saw you are working on the rear suspension bars.

Good Job, I fit my engine without the body and set the body on with engine in. Then, I pulled the engine and re-installed it with the body on to make sure it would come out! It is such a great feeling to see the engine in after all the hours and hours of prep work.

Things have been slow. Family responsibilities have been dominating my time. I’ll be adding a bit to my thread here soon. I just want to get the rear end done so I can get going on all the other things I’ve been planning, like a new electrical system.

Cheers
