Re: Today's Progress
All the hose/pipes are typically preformed rubber (or appropriate material) hoses, so the hose from the bottom of the radiator is one piece to the water pump.
AFAIK the manifold 'holes' are standard NPT (pipe) fittings. Look crappy with the caps on them, but should suffice for now!

Re: Today's Progress
yes you can . mine have some screwed in .. it's the same as the ones on your intake though I don't know the thread size off hand if you pull one from intake on the block it's the same . I had to switch one out before when I lost one off my exhaust port while driving . sounded like a machine gun going off in my motor. I took it off my intake where your quarks are and screwed it in. then since those were for vacuum I was able to get close size with another one and just shove it in the hole with tape around it to fit , till I got to a store... but no memory of size ..bossbob wrote: Sun Oct 21, 2018 10:56 pm "The metal pipe is a kludge."
What does that mean?
Also, can't find that anything goes into the manifolds where the wood dowels are, can I just use some brass plugs, and if so, what is the the thread size?

Re: Today's Progress
I guess there's no way to know if the radiator is clogged unless I remove the tank, right!
Did a little researching today, looks like I can buy a new aluminum 3 row radiator on ebay for about $130 or so or for $155 I can get the 2000 radiator with the fill neck on the radiator itself.
Called my local radiator shop for a quote of around $110 or so for repair.
So, it looks like a no brainer to go ahead and get the new one.
Anyone have any experience with the ebay radiators?

Re: Today's Progress
Get a Champion if you can. Better made with a warranty.
Some of the aluminum radiators are sold as "racing" radiators with no warranty.
Installation involves some mods.
Check the archives for info

Re: Today's Progress
Lorna, respectfully, that post should probably be deleted since it is just blatantly incorrect. You are pointing to the tempsender for the water temp gauge. it doesn't "open" or control water flow, if you disconnect it it doesn't affect the cooling system, just the gauge. its a very confusing post.
also, the plugs you are pointing to are also not the same, although on your car apparently someone forced the same brass plugs in there. The head air-injection port is not a tapered pipe fitting.
