NoTop,

Thanks, but I'm not a vendor. I really just want to get kinda whole and make sure fellow roadster owners have a viable repop in the future. I'm retired so my time is free. Also, this is my feeble attempt at a pay back to the roadster community that has helped me for the last 10 years as I asked stupid, and probably redundant questions on the forum. If no vendor steps up to the plate to insure future supply, I'll figure out a plan to see to it that this option exists.

Curtis you have been most helpful and I appreciate that for sure.

However, I'm actually trying to "manage" the first purchase quantity as low as possible. At this point, I am assuming the risk that I have Engineered this part correctly, and that the supplier can actually produce a product to my specifications. If either goes wrong I'm eating the whole cost or spending more time arguing with a supplier (which isn't fun). So, minimizing the risk to me is part of my thinking. Now, I think I'm right about the design, but in my 36 years as a Design engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, VP of Manufacturing, and then General Manager I have had plenty of things I was certain about, that ended up being very wrong and the outcome was painful. Plus, I have certainly killed off plenty of brain cells over the years so that doesn't bode too well either :D .

I'm all in for risking a grand to hopefully get this across the finish line for fellow roadster lovers because there is obviously a need. I also recognize that there may be some ongoing demand, so I'll see to it that someone provides these repopps to others in the future. Let's just hope it all fits correctly. If I can end up close to being whole, it'll be a win for everybody - me thinks.

Steve

I could use a 5-6 of them for some of our upcoming projects.

Get me on the list.

I started out in manufacturing drafting and designing and wound up in civil (big mistake). Oh boy, this looks good on paper and of course later the computer screen. Oops, that dimension wasn't quite right.

I think the good thing here with your work and mock up we're going to get a hose that even if it isn't exact is flexible enough it will work well anyway. Working with a 50 year old hose is bound to have challenges.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. I have that oversized thing on there now and it just doesn't do it. There are several items I would like to repop.

I'm currently working with one of the members on here to get a special set of crimping jaws made to replicate the Datsun battery cables. Also my jeweler friend has agreed to help me try to make a mold for the battery terminal.

I like the spirit of reproducing some parts. Very nice way to pay back for the critical help we have all received, at least speaking for myself .
Congrats on your efforts, you can do it!

So,

I got word from the supplier that they plan on shipping 2 first article samples by the end of next week. I'll try to install SN 0001 in my car, but I really need someone to install SN 0002 in their car. Ideally it would be a car without a motor so we can get some good pics and someone who has the time to hop on this project immediately and provide solid technical feedback. Anyone fit that description and willing to help?

Curtis,

If I get the sample in time maybe we could pull it off??? Let's call that plan "B" at this point and hope someone has a plan A situation.
