Rear Body Panel Photos

Post by ehanson »

I am looking for a couple of photos of a known correct rear body panel finish, specifically the interface of the tail lamp panel to the main rear filler panel (where the licence plate goes). Mine was over filled with filler, and we want to make sure it is right.

Thanks in Advance!

I don't have any pics, but there is a seam there that you can see inside the trunk and lines up with the bottom of the inboard "peak" of the taillight mounting surface (the point or peak where the reflector mounts). It clearly delineates the flat mounting surface of/for the taillights and creates a separate panel look for the rear panel. Grind/sand away the extra body filler to create a line there. If you look carefully, you will be able to see where it should go and I am sure you will have no trouble re-creating it. When I did my friend Bill's car many years ago, the PO had filled that gap in, making it a flat panel. Bill decided he liked it like that so I left it in. I prefer the separate panel look myself.
