OK thanks Arnold.

It's certainly looking like a low production run of 20 could be consumed. Still plowing forward with some more measuring and verification.

I'd be willing to buy more and hold them. I'm not against making a profit on them later.

New engineering drawing and CAD files sent to the manufacturer this evening. It's certainly going to be more expensive since the new design is about twice as long and has more twists and bends that the firs quote. Let's see what they come back with. Fingers Crossed

Ok Ladies and Gents,

I received the quote on the new design. The tooling $350 and the part cost is $22.72. So if I amortize the tooling over a 20 piece run, that would be $17.50 each. So the total part cost for the first 20 pieces will be $40.22. I would assume a couple of bucks each for shipping to PA. So I think I'll be at or under $50 each and you will have to pay for shipping from 17324 to your address.

This is much better than I figured it was going to be since he hose is so long. I extended the tail a good bit since Richards hose was so deteriorated at that end, I had no idea of the original length. Users will probably end up cutting some off of the bottom to suit.

Anyway, I'm going to roll the dice, place the order and hope I can unload 19 of the 20 because I need one for myself obviously.

I'll let you know when I get delivery and I'll probably need a guinea pig to do a trial fit. A car without a motor would be the best for sure.

Steve

Maybe if the quantity increases the each price may drop a bit?

Maybe find out what the production number needs to be to get a price break. Seems like 20 can get gobbled up quickly. Im in for one.

Curtis,

Yep - That's the hose. That second bulge near the bottom is there to clear the pinch weld. After the pinch weld the hose tails down the passenger side of the tunnel and angles back slightly.

The Purchase Order is placed for 20. Obviously if more is needed later the price could go down because the tooling will be paid for. I am not a vendor (and don't really want to be.) I will plan to transfer the ownership of the tooling free of charge to one of our trusted vendors on the board then they can produce more and price according to whatever pricing scheme they need to make money and stay alive. If this fits like I'm praying it will, Oh God please fit, we just don't want to let the tooling disappear. That being said, I will still have the detailed Engineering Drawing.

Oh yea, I also want to get Richard whole on the shipping charges of his OEM hose from the Netherlands to me.

Steve

The bulk people are getting a lot of these fast, just a reminder that early on I chimed in for one!

OK I went back through the posts and it looks like it already added up to 27. I'll my purchase order up to 30 and amortize the tooling over 30 pieces instead of 20. So that'll save us $5.83 per part

If I were you, I'd go with 50, and still amortized the costs over the first 30, so that you can make a profit for your time and effort.
I have a feeling the other 20 will go faster than you think. $35 each is a more than fair price for your troubles.
