Trans rebuild complete including welded 5th and all new bearings/seals.

Also finishing up polishing the lip of the 15” ARE LeMans wheels before powder coating the spokes.

Knocked together the rotating assembly for 33 this weekend. It’s a 3.5” bore with coated Wiseco pistons on polished edge stock rods.

It’s calculating out about 10:1.

Nice work on that bottom end. What are you doing for the top end? I just turned my car back to stock with a stock head and B cam. With the 40mm venturis in the carbs and 1 5/8 primary headers running into a 2.25 inch exhaust (no you likely can't clear one that big without some work) The car pulls nearly as well as it does with the fully ported, race prepped head and race cam. I was blown away by that discovery. Common knowledge said the car would be horrible with that setup. Its not. Bigger is better on the venturis and exhaust.

Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.

Will, I have a Rebello worked head for the top end with his custom grind street cam as well as a B cam on a spare head. The Reb cam is in the head now but thinking about swapping over to reduce the variables on a new startup. I noticed there are no cam tower shims and my head is cut 0.030 so thinking I’m pulling the cam either way.

Carbs are brand new, engine, trans and clutch are fresh, so looking for ways to fight as few things as possible on the first start! Hopefully that ship has not sailed already.

Ask Dave R about the need for cam tower shims. He likely set the cam up with the correct lash pads. With that much cut from the head, I'd be worried about piston to valve interference. You might be fine, you might have issues, I don't know. Do you have an adjustable cam gear? There is really no point in swapping the head out, you will still have the same variables if you want to run that Rebello head. (It will save having to pull the engine to swap the head. Yes it can be done in the car, but its a serious PITA to do if your hands and arms are on the larger side.)

A fresh engine is a fresh engine. Its either going to start and run, or its not. As long as its mechanically put together correctly, your variables are the carbs and the ignition.

<t>Sorry all - been away for a while on weekly work trips but that hasn’t slowed progress. Was great to meet many of you in Monterey, special thanks to Ted Heaton and the Dills’ for some awesome lodging and fun!<br/>

Went to the body shop this week to test fit the vintage ARE Lemans. Plenty of room with 195 rubber!</t>
