I was talking to a mechanic who back in the day worked on 2L roadster race cars. He said that they were using Mercedes rod bearings. He couldn’t remember exactly why but he thought it was because they were made of a different material and held up better. And it being many years ago he didn’t recal which bearing that was used. Has anyone heard of using Mercedes rod bearings in a U20 engine?

Re: U20 rod bearings
I think its outlined in the competition Manual.
Yes, they were of better material, need to drill a new oil hole and modify the rod for the tab in a different location IIRC.

Re: U20 rod bearings
I think that it is extremely unlikely that Mercedes made their own bearings any more than any other manufacturer does. One could probably research it and find that yes their 2000 came with bearings made by the same manufacturer as made the bearings that Mercedes used.
