R16 SU heat shield

Post by zippy67roadster »

So the sample of my new R16 SU carburetor heat shield came in. I test fit it on a project car I have so please excuse the mess of an engine in the pics. The heat shield is an exact replica of the original and will come with the water tube fasteners and hardware as well. They are reinforced at the mounting holes and are done in a yellow zinc finish to inhibit rust and match the original's appearance. They should be available for purchase in the next month and a half.

Let's see, scrounge around like I did until you find one not cracked or bent and get it replated or buy a fresh one with the reinforcements and not fatigued.

Ya, I'll take one.

Doubt it Curtis. Stainless is much different to stamp.

As Greydog stated it is a bit harder to stamp in stainless. I went with the same gauge steel and then it is yellow zinc coated to look like the original and offer rust protection.

We could combine this HS with my SS water tubes for a 311 discount. The tubes typically include SS hardware too, so 311'ers would have their choice. Would be a very nice pairing.

You have the longer tube too if I recall. I had a tube made out of hydraulic tube which is much thicker than the original some time back.

They are in and ready for purchase. You can find them on my website here http://sincitydatsuns.com/store/p126/NE ... hield.html or on ebay here https://www.ebay.com/itm/302851353687. Dean at Datsunparts.com will soon have then for sale, as well, as JT from Datsunrestorationparts.com. JT and I will be offering a combination of both my heat shield and his stainless water tube for one price as well.
