I think David should do a YouTube video on how to sand and use a polisher.
Ready for your close-up, David?

Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.

Nope, not quite the same effect. It looks better on the Roadster.

I did the bodywork and paint for a buddy of mine in 93. Sadly the Bug was wrecked in 97. John haggled with ins co for almost a year to get a decent payoff. I bought the car for less than $1000 and fixed it. Sold it for $4500 in 2001.

Very nice, looks like a glass coating! I plan on leaving my trim off until I can do this after painting my car. What a pain to it was to remove lol

I love wet sanding and buffing (when you have enough paint to work with!). So rewarding to take something rough, sand it down, then progressively buff it out. As an aside, and as I have mentioned before, nothing has worked better on swirl marks than the Eagle One Nano-wax I have used. Just tried the spray bottle version of it on my wife's Z3... absolutely love the result. The previous paste version saved my black car from swirls when nothing else would. I would encourage anyone with orange peel and enough pt (single or two stage paint) to (carefully) try their hand at cutting and buffing... very rewarding. Car looks great! You can clearly see the before and after in the earlier pic of the rear quarter, comparing top to bottom... look at the reflection. Nice work!

Alex my hands are shredded from R&R the trim. Early cars are more diffcult than the lates too!
Tom, as sweet and smooth as this is turning out, its growing on me too. One of these days come to Shedd!
Greg, I found a bottle of green turtle wax at my dads 4 years ago, works great. If some gets left behind, its no problem .) .)
Linda, i shot some go pro, 4 parts. Will review later. Not sure if its worthy, i dont talk much when im working lol.

Dave,
first, impressive job. Thanks for documenting this, paint work is still a mystery to me.

Second, what was wrong with the paint before that you had to cut into it and buff? I'd be scared to death as it looked brilliant in pictures when you first got it.

It's looking great Dave! Absolutely love the changes you've made. If I can finish assembling my Ivy, one of these days I will get to meet her :)
