Hi there, 1966 1600 Roadster here from Houston - moving to Omaha

Post by jkohhh »

Hi all! Got a 1966 1600 that sure looks purdy on the outside (recent paintjob by previous owner) but is completely trashed on the interior. The car has lived in Alabama and Texas and even to Australia... possibly more! Pics are on my phone but the best way to see the progress so far is on Instagram: @66onesix00 is my profile. I also have a 1972 240z if anyone is interested in seeing that, @dirtybird.z

Anyway! So far, had the body lifted and chassis cleaned up. RWD SR20DE from a S14 is currently being done. Spriso mounts made the job less of a hassle. Fidanza flywheel and short throw shifter is going in. Stock 5spd trans from the SR20. Also doing the alternator from a Justy, front brakes from a 300zx. Future plans include rear-end swap (still researching which might be the best) so that should take care of the LSD and rear discs at some point in one-shot. Also, redoing the entire suspension setup.

Can't wait to finish that up and then I'll start on the interior and paint!

Nice to meet you all!

Welcome Jason! When I first saw the topic I thought it was a car for sale so I didn't open it up. Glad you're here, keep us posted on your progress, sounds like it should be a fun car. Love Zs too, but they cannot compare to driving through the mountains in a convertible... nothing like it.

Since you are redoing the suspension, might I suggest the Bilstein shocks (people are gonna get tired of me saying that, but when I find something that works, then I say it over and over. Talk to JT68). I have no skin in the Bilstein game... they are just superior to anything else I have ever tried, and worth the coin IMHO.

Hello Jason., looking forward to your project updates. I, too, recently bought a roadster. She runs but I am definitely restoring her. So I am looking forward reading your progress. Shamus.
