1600 Distributor and heater hose problem
Hi everyone, We took off the distributor cap from the motor we just installed and there is no points or rotor and the distributor doesn't have the screw that holds the setting in place, so my question is how do I know which way to set the rotor? and can somebody please take a picture of their distributor with the cap off so I can see how the wiring and if it's not to much trouble a picture of how the heater hoses are connected, we didn't pay attention when we in hooked them and now don't know where they go!! Thank You

It would be better for you to take pictures of what you have and let us have a look at it so we can tell you what we see. It may have been converted to EI at some point. I could tell you in about 3 seconds with a picture. Or are you saying that it is a standard distributor and that the PO just didn't install the points?

yes it is a stock distributor, and the po didn't have the rotor, points hooked up and there was a couple wires that were disconnected and just laying there.

The rotor is keyed to the distributor shaft so that makes that job easy: you can't put it anywhere but correct.
As for the wiring, the single wire to the points connects to the insulated terminal block on the outside of the distributor body.
There is a short pigtail wire inside the distributor that is screwed to the contact of the points.
You can see that in this pic.

Replace it with an EI distributor from East Coast Roadster. It's one of the first and best changes I made to my car. Tom is super helpful if you have any issues in setting it up.
