I have just registered on the site.

Post by helipilot16 »

I was once on a roadster forum. I don't know if it was this one or another. It doesn't matter. I am the proud owner of a '68 roadster. It's a 2 liter with all the goodies that came stock in the 150 HP engine (Webber carbs) plus an Isky cam. I just spent nearly $20,000 on restoring the engine and chassis. All bushings and such were replaced. The chassis was powder coated. I have a set of Panalites that are SFI certified for racing. I have the original body plus a donor. The body parts will be repaired and/or replaced, then painted.

Unfortunately, I am 76 years old and in poor health. I will be looking to sell the roadster to someone looking for a project.

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear about your Health. To post items for sale, you will need to include a price. Pictures work best.
Wish you were able to "enjoy the ride".

Your price can be your dream price with "or best offer" added.
Sorry about your health.
Your car sounds complete, not really a "project".
Good luck on the sale. I bet you are already overloaded with offers

Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.

Pictures and price.

Post by helipilot16 »

I will post some pictures after I take them tomorrow. Keep in mind that nothing is assembled on the chassis. My plan is to mount the engine before I do any bodywork.

As for price; I'm going to post a price of $14,000. That will represent a huge loss. I'll send copies of receipts, also.

Welcome, even if it is just to exit :-(
Sounds like a solid project and pictures would go a long way to selling it. Also, where are you and the car located?

We live on 250 acres 60 miles east of Reno near the town of Fallon, Nevada. It's 4 1/2 miles from the nearest paved road.

A Clarification

Post by helipilot16 »

It's not settled that we will sell our roadster. I got some really good news about my health. At my quarterly medical checkup today, my doctor stated that I should be able to do anything I want and should live at least another 15 years,

My health is taken care of by the Veterans hospital in Reno. It's the best health system in the world. I am 110% disabled, so I can get anything I need from VA. I'm a retired LTC, U.S. Army. I flew OH-6 scout helicopters in Vietnam. I was shot down at least 7 times. That was our purpose.

Great to hear, both on your health and on your roadster. And thank you for your service, I am glad to know that you are happy with the treatment and care from the VA healthcare system. Too often we only get the horror stories, it’s refreshing to get a good report.

Yes, thank you for your service and wish you well on your restoration project. Glad to hear you got some positive news on your health situation. You are fortunate to have a VA Facility that actually is helping veterans. So many are not great places to go for health care.
