Re: new paint
it has clear on it . . I mixed up the powder into the clear coat . I did keep it matte / satin finish . this will be easier to cut in if anything else happens (like someone hitting me again ) and thanks for the ideas I didn't know they made a swirl remover . I used my compressor and a gun I got at harbor freight back when I bought my house . the paint I was using was good paint but it came as a 2 stage with no clear coat of any kind (matte changed the color some ) and the salt air here was brutal on it in a year's time , soooo I started to think ... I wasn't impressed with the turnout on the burgundy so I wanted to have some fun this time ... well I had a bit too much fun . haha I will be adding some more matte clear coat today because of a couple of dry looking spots . adding this I'm not adding the ghost pearl with it this time . this is fun stuff tho . it's on the car now also but it'll tone down the pearl a touch .. well see . I may have to start over after this . . trial and error can be fun ... hahaGregs672000 wrote: Fri May 11, 2018 11:14 pm Looks like you did a really good job, especially for painting outside. You did a good job of masking things off, I don't see any over spray or missed spots... well done! I agree with the idea of putting several coats of clear over it. If you do, make sure they're compatible. If you get enough on there, you might be able to carefully buff it out with a variable speed buffer and proper buffing compounds that have abrasives that start hard and polish out finer and finer (McGuire makes one, diamond cut I think it's called. And Swirl Remover as a final buff, then good wax.) It's really fun to see what you can do, but there is some risk in that you can burn through the paint if you stay in one place too long or hit edges too hard. It also depends on how much clear you have on there. But since you did this in your yard and thusly are not expecting perfection (not saying it does not look good!) you could probably fix any screw up or mistakes if they happen. Not sure what equipment you used to shoot the car (if anything, I've done fenders with spray can paint from automotivetouchup.com), but I've been happy with the paint from them and I think it's totally possible to carefully clear the whole car with their paint and buff it out if needed... and fun. You seem to be into doing stuff on your car, so go for it girl! I bet there's YouTube on how to use a buffer. You can rent one cheap, and get a light foam cutting pad and a swirl remover soft pad. Enjoy!![]()

Re: new paint
thanks Linda . yes I'm liking the satin finish more so than the "flatz" I had b4. yes allot of preparing . my shoulder still grinds and pops when I rotate it . haha ouch . I sat on this color for a minute and do like it But , I am going to tone it down a touch today .. just a touch .. we'll see . it may be an entire new color by the time I'm through . haha . I'm close and almost nailed it (what's in my head ) just a bit more today I hope and it'll be done . famous last words .. anyway thanks . hope I hit the mark today .Linda wrote: Fri May 11, 2018 11:25 pm My take is that Lorna likes the matte look and does not want a shiny clear coat. I like this color more than the burgundy, and think it looks nice as a matte color also. That's alot of prep and sanding and body work prior to painting.

Re: new paint
thank you . but I'm my own worse critic unfortunately .. I'm going to change it a touch in a few days when my matte finish comes in . I think I like this satin look with this paint /powder stuff better than shiny . shiny almost looks like a toy or something .. but anyway , some of the ghost part will be gone . but it'll still change colors with movement .. purple / blue . hopefully I'll be satisfied with this end result . this is why I paint myself . I'm too picky and would accept another job even if I don't like it so not to be a bother to them . but I can bug me over and over about it . . haha which I have already .. my home I did the same thing picking colors out . gave me anxiety . haha . but love it now .. anyway I'm bummed it didn't show but what can u do .. talk at the end of the week .theunz wrote: Sat May 12, 2018 9:10 am I think it's a definite improvement over the old paint and I know you're proud of your accomplishment, as you should be. Good job!

Re: new paint
yes . it tones down this powder coat . haha it's fun . it's blurple / pink /violet = Omni colorshift . but I've seen this paint in gloss , I personally like the matte/satin way better . softer , if you will . but they told me I couldn't do it on matte . haha why I said ? lol. I'll be going there this week to show them .
