Re: The Quick/Small/(Stupid?) Question Thread-take 2
Does anybody know of a substitute for the rubber bumper that goes on the brake pedal and rides against the brake light switch. Dean has it, but with his minimum and shipping it's gets kind of pricy. Or if anyone is getting ready to place an order with Dean and could add this to their order and then send it on to me I would cover the costs. Thanks, Mike

Re: The Quick/Small/(Stupid?) Question Thread-take 2
I did get the alignment done last Monday. The toe was off on the left (0.20 prior to alignment), now it's at 0.07. The drive is better, no more fighting the steering wheel when I drive over a manhole cover. Overall, I'm still not happy with everything steering-wise since the lower ball joints were replaced. Now that the alignment is done, could the stiffness in the steering be due to the new ball joints being too tight. I can hear them creak when I turn the wheel. It never did that before on the old worn out ball joints. Or is there a break-in period, where that will all get smother over time?DCooke wrote: Tue Apr 24, 2018 8:57 pmGeoff, Good Canadian advice...from one Canadian to another. I searched the alignment posts & my situation sounds familiar to others with an alignment issue. I'll take it by the alignment shop next week.GeoffM wrote: Tue Apr 24, 2018 12:57 pm Hi Dave,
Did you give the alignment shop the "preferred" set-up details from other threads on these forums?
Sounds like a castor issue maybe.

Re: The Quick/Small/(Stupid?) Question Thread-take 2
Thanks Curtis, but wow, so many to choose from without without knowing their exact dimensions! I guess I could pick 2 or 3 and hope one fits, still be cheaper than paying Dean's minimum and shipping, as it looks like this place might ship usps. Still if anyone is making an order from Dean I'd sure like to piggyback my part with it.

Re: The Quick/Small/(Stupid?) Question Thread-take 2
I took a look and to my surprise, no holes. Who knewspl310 wrote: Mon Apr 23, 2018 1:28 pm If you look at the cast pad on the rear of the cam cover - over the rear exhaust - you will see that it is undrilled. The SU cam cover had two holes drilled in it - one for the locating tab and the other for the rivet of the vacuum tube clip. The absence of any drilling makes this a Solex cam cover.
Thanks for the knowledge

Those are the clips for the top cables. They mount on the B pillar in front of the top frame pivot. There is a left and a right - they are angled.

yeah good call . this fabrication I did isn't working .. I'll do that . thxmraitch wrote: Wed May 02, 2018 1:49 am Lorna
Just go to OSH or whatever is in your area and look around. You clearly have an eye for fabrication and I am sure that something will catch your eye - rubber door stop or something similar. Or just a thickish piece of rubber - drill a hole in it and just check what size screw/bolt you will need to secure it.

Re: The Quick/Small/(Stupid?) Question Thread-take 2
There is a cable that runs through the soft-top - anchored at front end by the little hole on the sides of the bow and at the back there is a 'clip' that anchors into the pieces shown in a previous post.
The intention is to minimise flapping of the top when drving.

Re: The Quick/Small/(Stupid?) Question Thread-take 2
I have another question please .
now I don't have any flapping at all , new top , But , there's the window thing going on . now I was told there's a cable that runs along windows which I have fabricated one ,well two . anyway they're supposed to hold the window from folding in on ya ? anyway I see a hole up front to probably hook it to but how does it connect to the back part of the windows or frame ? there's a L bracket I have that goes next to where the arms slide onto the post bolt bracket thing ?sorry about words , does it hook onto that one ? it screws into frame next to the arms ??

the window is held in place by the front/back channels ONLY
the cable runs THROUGH the soft top.
