Chrome shops?
Is there any recommended chrome shops on the West Coast? Got a small pile of goodies that need to be replated, but not having much luck finding a shop locally, and want to be sure I don't send this stuff off only to be disappointed upon its return. Thanks!

Re: Chrome shops?
I would avoid Astro in N. Hollywood, the P.O. of my car had a handful of parts done before I got the car done there and most are peeling. Including parts that are sitting on the shelf, still wrapped in the paper they were in when he picked them up.

Re: Chrome shops?
Yes they have some bad reviews. Chrome is too expensive to get wrong.

Re: Chrome shops?
+1 on review of Astro. I used the one in Van Nuys to chrome some parts (can't remember for which car-think it was the Bentley bumper) NEVER NEVER use any of their locations, plus they wouldn't fix.
Chrome is just getting expensive to do, worth finding the best shop, depending upon access to the part in question.

Superior chrome in San Jose. Never had an issue with them over 10+ years, and their work still looks great. Ask for Mark.

One way to find out who is good, other than online reviews which can be fake ( shocking, eh?) is to ask a bunch of guys at car shows with classic cars. They usually know the quality vendors.

D & R Chrome in Huntington Park. Had all mine done there at a very fair price. 5 years now, zero peeling, still looks new.

How about suggestions for some places back east? I'm in WV just south of Pittsburgh area. Any places in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia or Maryland?

Re: Chrome shops?
Has anyone tried that paint stuff that was posted awhile ago? Seemed pretty amazing, might not be concourse SHOW quality, but certainly pretty darn nice for the price, maybe better for the environment?

Re: Chrome shops?
There is a Prismatic chrome powder coat, followed by a clearcoat that looks very, very good. We are using it in place of the chrome we were using in out manufacturing process. Much friendlier environmentally. It's pretty tough too - but still would not use if for a bumper or any high risk area for impact. For chrome trim, insets etc., it would probably work great.Gregs672000 wrote: Mon Apr 16, 2018 12:11 pm Has anyone tried that paint stuff that was posted awhile ago? Again, not really chorme - only chrome is - but pretty convincing and tough substitute as it is powder coat.
