Starting front end assembly, and ran into this on the (left?) spindle stub axle:
Other spindle stub axle also has wear, but barely noticeable compared to this.
I’m thinking there normally wouldn’t be any wear here nor what caused this. Theories?
Anyway, is it a problem that prevents me from using this part?
Thanks,

Re: spindle stub axle wear - still usable?
If I'm looking at that correctly that is the inner end of the axle correct?
It looks to me like score marks from the grease seal of the inner bearing.
If so, I do't think there is a problem.
Just make sure that the bearings fit the axle snugly i.e. no radial slop.

Nissanman, just trying to help.

I can't tell from the picture, but I am pretty sure that part comes off. Mike makes a different thickness for his Volvo Altima brake conversion.

My first guess is someone installed the wheel bearing in backwards...taper going in instead of out and the rollers contacted that spacer.
There is no reason I see that would cause any problem if the bearing sits flat against that stop. The seal rides on top and that surface look OK

I'd have to agree with fj. I don't see a problem running this part.
