Nice score Ray!
The worst is a lawnmower, a couple of bicycles, and a few lawn tools hung on the wall. What the heck do these people do with their spare time? Wait a minute, maybe that's why they have spare time!
And MONEY!

Always a good sign that your suspension is still sound!

What I got FOR my Datsun today

Post by BBF Roadster »

CrAzy, but DHL delivered my OER 45mm carbs today.
Merry Christmas to my 67 roadster.
Now all I need is an intake to mount them with.

Started working on SRL311 #194. Completed the rebuild of the #'s matching engine & having a little clean up of the engine bay before the driveline goes back in.

Picked up a couple oil senders off Amazon to add to the spares. Paid $18 for the last one, these were a bit more. They had three available.

And I picked up my rechromed hub caps the other day.

did you know just about everything was still loose on my motor ! copper tubes fittings things , bolts and nuts all around my fuel and intake plus I got to those nuts up under the intake and pipes on, for the first time . funny how my timing fell into place after this, and holding is the main thing ! rumble is very happy . next stop dash is coming out to fix my clock and get the light in there LED. I already made a gadget that easily removes the screws up by windshields tight fit and broke them free for the venture . whOoHoO moving along finally !

Technically, not today, but anyway...

For the last couple weeks, when time allows, I've been in the process of swapping my old 3-main out for another 3-main that has new rings, main & rod bearings, gaskets, etc. Check out the top of the pistons on my old one:
Old Head & Pistons.JPG

The stuff on piston #4 is a very light foam, presumably cooked coolant (?). Also, how about that deformed head gasket?!

If anyone has any ideas about what was causing these symptoms, I'd love to hear them (I'm fairly new to seeing the inside of engines). I do plan on rebuilding this engine some day, though, maybe..., mainly for the fun of it.

At this point, the "new" engine is in the car and running smoothly. I took it for a very short spin around the neighborhood, but had to return before having any real fun due to a leaking water pump. I'll fix that a.s.a.p. and start the break-in process.

Like Sid, I can't see anything with the gasket (pic not very clear), but from your description it sounds like you had a leaking head gasket.

I went target shooting so I could practice ending the misery of my poor SRLif it doesn't start behaving. I imagine it will surprise my mechanic when I walk in his shop and assassinate the car. That's not against the law, is it?

Yes it is! At least in Roadster World! Sorry to hear you're having trouble. Have you laid out the problems with us, or are you relying on the mechanic or both? We're happy to try to help, wealth of knowledge with this group! Cars can most definitely be very frustrating, but they also teach (or force) patience. We can ALL relate to that!

added a 12 v USB port at the right knee passenger side (where hood latch is on driver's side . made hole to fit plug very snug) pushing to disconnect the ground and shutting it off if needed , and pull a touch to turn it on . and a second 12v port using the unused map light spot ,(fit nicely I might add , slight sanding for a mm more room ) not needing the map light because I've ran other lighting inside a while back . now my heat/ massaging chair cover pad thing can plug right in . and oh my phone needs a charge , ok rt there . oh need a light ? rite there . road trip ready
