Hello everyone! Im new here

Post by zetec311 »

Hello everyone,

Just joining the board today! Im Emmy from socal, I was from the bayarea but moved here for school and got stuck here. While being stuck i bought a roadster to enjoy the nice weather. So far the car has been a handfull, trying to get used to it and learning as much as i can. These cars really have lots of owners and a long history which is kind of neat.

The car was owned by Don or Dave.. used to be light yellow, but is a dark hunter green now. It has a ford engine in it mated to a t9 5 speed. I can still find bits of postings about the car but most are broken links. The ride is a bit harsh for me, front springs are datsunparts and the rear leaf is very flat. kyb on all corners. Its rolling on 14” empi’s with inner tubes in it, lol?!? Not sure what to think about it.

Anyways.. hope to meet everyone someday. Happy Holidays!!

Emmy

Very cool! post some pic of your ride!
As for the harsh ride there are a few things to check
If lowered (which sounds like it is) make sure the bump stops are shortened on the A arms
Rear leafs being flat could be swapped for a stock arched one. Spacer added to keep it low.
and look on the forum for bilstien shocks recently being offered. Sounds like a much better touring shock.

I put the tubes in the empis so I didn't have to carry a spare. There was an extra tube and a pair of wrenches in the trunk. The carpet is boat carpet in case it got wet. Very fast, very fun car.
I remember when no one wanted the 1500s......

Welcome, post your location in your profile to find help nearby. Can't get a much better response than from Datsun1500 - a VERY knowledgeable Roadster owner, and apparently a former owner of your "new" car. :-)

Welcome Emmy. Plenty of west coasters to hang out with. Plan a fun run.
Looks like a good car.

An eventual meeting spot for most Socal owners is Supercar Sunday car meet 6100 Topanga Woodland Hills. www.supercarsunday.com. 7-10A. Usually a few Roadsters there, so come on by.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
And “hi datsun1500”, I got all the extras in there, very nice of you. Was great chatting with you also. Still trying to sort the slave cylinder, its seems common on this type of transmission from the westfield/locost guys. Makes me wish i had a lift.

Ive never chatted with you as far as I know. I sold that car in 2008. The original BAT write up was when I sold it on EBay.

Its a common complaint and can be corrected, but you need to be willing to make the right changes.

I'm assuming the car is just for street use. Daily driver too? Jt

ohhh, i mistaken you for the most recent owner. Are you the original builder? There were some extra parts given to me in the trunk, youre comment made me think that was you. It’s nice to have made contact with you. Very nice car.
