Here are some pics from my latest pick. Pics of the car and stuff in the trunk.
So far, I am this car’s 3rd human caretaker.
A shout out to Nismou20 for helping in the adoption!

Wow, what a great find! I've always liked the handles n stuff on the 1500. I do note how far intakes have come... talk about making airflow take a 45 degree turn!

A 45 would be streamlined, that's not just 1 but 2 90 degree turns the air has to takeGregs672000 wrote:Wow, what a great find! I've always liked the handles n stuff on the 1500. I do note how far intakes have come... talk about making airflow take a 45 degree turn!

Don't toss that Frantz oil filter, it's worth some pretty good change

Serial number SPL310-000071B, that is really cool! Those single carb 1500s are very rare-- nice find!

Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.

Re: 63 1500 barn find
Those early cars are so unique and interesting. Looks like a cool time-capsule. It's akin to finding a '67 2-litre car (almost!)
Does the motor turn freely? Is there a third sideways seat in that car?

Re: 63 1500 barn find
This is one of the early ones. Single carb that the intake manifold butts up against the exhaust manifold. Also the air cleaner has this long protrusion that I’ve ever seen! And the nice thing is all three seats are still in great shape... truly a time capsule. The only thing that is missing to bring it back to full stock are the hubcaps. It may need to be fabricated.
And, I spun the motor freely yesterday by the fan blade.. the crankshaft has this weird sprag-like shaft that my deep socket couldn’t reach.

Re: 63 1500 barn find
Hubcaps pop up, but they can be pricey. Ford Falcon ones are really close though.
The front nut on the crank looks odd because it has a notch for the hand crank

I remember when no one wanted the 1500s......

Re: 63 1500 barn find
Stock hub caps are still available infrequently on Ebay. Expect to pay $100-200 each depending on condition. Used on all 63-65 1500's.raylim wrote:This is one of the early ones. The crank nut has the early 60's "eared" front so you could hand crank the engine. It Works!
My 63 320 truck starts up with the hand crank.
Send me your address and I will send you a reproduction of the 1963 1500 Japanese Owners Manual.

Re: 63 1500 barn find
Thanks for the info. I will definitely look into the ford falcon hubcaps. Until then... I'll be flushing the fuel and brake lines and getting it to start and stop.
