Lisa's 67 1/2 1600 Roadster

Post by Randalla »

I restored this Roadster over the last three years. It literally came to me in boxes with nothing bagged or tagged, body off frame and engine out of the car. The good news was that the previous owner had been collecting loads of NOS parts for years so I didn't have to chase a lot of parts. He also had the engine re-built professionally with an overbore, performance cam and headers. For a 1600 this car scoots. The wheels are super rare. I bought them from a soldier that had been stationed in Japan and bought the wheels there for a 240Z he had while stationed there. The car never made it back to the US but the wheels were shipped back. They are a JDM wheels, but as far as I have been able to determine they were never sold here. I liked the magnesium look and the polished outside edge. They look vintage and suit the car well. The color was picked out by my wife (Lisa). It's a Lexus color called Matador Mica Red Metallic. I've put about 700 miles on the car since finishing it. There are still a few electrical components I'm trouble shooting, but nothing that keeps me from enjoying her. Pictures are from a recent photo shoot, at a location near my home, with my iPhone camera.

Dave, I''ll post some exhaust pics after I make a change to the tips. Decided I didn't like the side by sides as they are stainless and change color to more of a yellow cast over time rather than the whiter chrome on the rest of the car. The shape also just wasn't right for a vintage roadster so I'm going to a round single outlet, chrome resonator with a 45 degree angle cut.

Exhaust tip/resonator just arrived yesterday. Here are pic of the current install as well as the new tip. I'll do the swap next week.
