Which engine? Why? What's the cost? Difficulty? so on

But it all really comes down to you. Just do a ton of research and do what YOU want and what YOU are comfortable with.

Let's trow some fuel on the fire.
Why not a CA18det? These engines are so easy to find and can make between 200 and 330 HP without any problem, they fit in directly without cutting in your chassis, The only cutting I did where the holes for the exhaustpipe to make them larger.
with a stage 1 chip you make already 220 hp, stage II 270hP and stage III all from horsham you make 330hp.
Horsepower is how hard you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.

The CA is not very common in the USA, so we tend to forget about it. Its a little older technology than a SR motor with a cast iron block, but it fits well. My understanding is it was a replacement for the E and 4 cylinder L series motors.

If we are going to older motors, than an FJ20E or ET fits without frame modifications and fills the engine compartment, you just can find them in the USA. because someone is hording them....LOL

We can find them here on every corner, and a old running motor can you buy for a 400 euro, a good used one for 1000 with gearbox.
It's used for the 180SX 200sx, 240sx and pulsar. from '88 til '94.

There’s a few of them here imported from Japan but they’re fairly rare in Canada

The CA is a very nice engine, over-engineered I hear. Two cylinders short of the RB engines as I recall. I think the turbo engine would be awesome, balanced and reliable.
