Steering wheel swap

Post by troyt »

Blasphemy, I swapped a ‘67 wheel into my ‘69. Wrapped it in a fresh WheelSkins cover. Still working on the horn, had to rebuild the button assembly but now have a faulty relay. Time for a test drive anyways.

Those WheelSkins are great. Time consuming and my finger hurt after, but a good upgrade for a reasonable price. Nice job, it looks great!

Looks great but I didn't know the short windshield wheel fit the tall windshield car. On another note, is that a stock size Wheelskins? If so what size is it? Thanks.

Ok, “more blasphemy” it is then...
The earlier wheel is a little closer to the dash, you almost bump the turn signal stalk with your knuckles, but not quite. Works great for me as it gives me a little more arm room and my seat is already all the way back.

The Wheelskins size I ordered was 15 5/8" x 2 5/8". They have an install video on their website worth watching beforehand.

Depending on the seat angle you prefer, (I prefer a 62degree angle), you can thread the seat back bolts, and screw them in deeper. I even shaved the the safety hook a tad...

I would be interested in how you get the horn to work with the 67 wheel on a 69 steering column.
Thanks
