New on board
New on board and greetings to all. I was never much into Japanese cars in general but from a nostalgic reason, bought a 1965 Datsun 1600 SPL311 couple years back and thoroughly enjoying this car. The car was located in northern Japan and shipped to Yokohama (Japan) where I reside. Supposedly a fully restored car when purchased, but as usual there were quirks and things needed attentions. Nevertheless, the overall condition is very good and hope to enjoy her for years to come.

Thanx, being a left hand drive, she must have been an export model to the States and came back home.

Re: New on board
Very nice car. Please post to our registry.
The dash and gauges look to be from a 67.5 model.
Be careful opening the hood without a support or you will dent your grille.

Re: New on board
Thanx for the welcome and comments. I am still new to Datsun and may not understand the details as much. The previous owner did commission a "full" restoration few years back and the result is not perfect but the overall condition is very good. I do have photo records of the restoration works and they do look complete. All the details may not be exactly period correct but I can live with that.
Recently I added another Japanese micro sports car, 1967 Honda S800 coupe, LHD, also a returnee from the UK. These two are similar yet so different but suffice to say that they are both very enjoyable to drive.
Do have much more photos but they require downsizing to post here and that's a bit of a chore for me at this moment. In time.

Thought I would add few pics of the restoration work done by the previous owner.

Re: New on board
Welcome. Would love to see some pics of the Roadster out and about in Japan. How is the response to the car in Japan?

Re: New on board
Hello Linda, I would assume that back when they first came out, these roadsters were targeted for exports mainly.
As you may know that Japan is aging rapidly with swelling retiring baby boomers, seems like they are the main driving force for the popularity of these vintage cars. There are not many available but demand seems to be increasing reflected in the steady increase in market values. Do get compliments by men mostly in their 60s and 70s. Even taxi drivers roll down their windows to say few words now and then.
As suggested, I would post picks of the car in this natural Japanese settings over time.

Hi Jimmy,
I have a son who lives in Yokohama with his Japanese wife and daughter. Perhaps, when we visit in the future, I can take a look at your fine car.
