'67.5 custom build - Roadster novice

Post by InTheRough »

I just picked up my first Datsun for $800; a 1967.5 SPL1600. It will be a long road but I look forward to doing a RestoMod build with this. There was damage to the front driver side fender and hood that someone put bondo over so I will be looking to replace those. There is also no windshield.

Basically, I plan on keeping the frame and body. The engine and drivetrain will go away along with the interior. I already have a set of Corbeau Seats (that I plan to reupholster to heated leather) and plan on picking this R33 rear VLSD subframe:

The plan, for now, is to find a wrecked Hayabusa to pluck the motor and associated parts from but that could change at anytime. I may just go with an SR20 to keep it in the Nissan family.

The bad news is that this build will take a LONG time. I may not even get started on it for a year or so but I will definitely be compiling the parts I need in that time.

I picked up a better set of seats today. I'll probably keep the harnesses and sell the Corbeau seats.

I plan on swaping the headlights for some 7" round LEDs. Anybody done this?

How is the width on the seats? Do they fit in the roadster okay?
