My first Roadster!!! 1967.5 Datsun 1600 Roadster
Hello everyone I recently purchased first Datsun Roadster, a 1967.5 1600, as an early 21st birthday gift to myself. I have loved and admired Datsun’s for a long time especially the roadsters; I have saved for a while to afford one and I’m very exited to now own one. It was a great find at only $3500 I couldn’t help myself. It’s in pretty good condition very little rust; it had been sitting for over 9 years in storage and has the soft and hard top. Also came with the original service manual (pretty beat up), original spare tire with cover, original jack and trunk rubber lining. And I picked up some original YOM plates that I just registered to it.
Unfortunately the owner lost the keys for it thus I have been looking for blanks to get a key made, however before it was put in storage it had a lot of work done on it, new carbs, clutch, hoses etc… and had the fluids drained so hopefully I can get it running soon. However there are still little things missing from it that I will be searching for such as
Key blanks,
Radio antenna,
Original radio
Heater/ heater box and fan
Original seatbelts,
Some Rubber/seals.
Ignition switch column cover,
Dash silver trim piece,
The bottom of part the dashpad that wraps around the dash has broken off (so maybe a new dashpad)
Some of the gauges are from a 67 not a 67.5 so they are not black but chrome/ silver (should I look for 67.5 replacements or paint them?)
PM me if you have any of the listed pieces above, I will probably be positing in the Classifieds wanted soon.
Also further work that will needed is the body, there a lot of little dings and some bondo on the hood. Could use a fresh paint job and defiantly some re-chroming.
So yeah It’s a little bit of a project but it just means ill have bonding time with it! I’m excited to start my work on it and learn a lot in the process (this forum will be such a great resource and will be referenced quite a bit). It’s awesome to see such a great community surrounding Datsun Roadsters and I’m happy to now be a part of it.

Re: My first Roadster!!! 1967.5 Datsun 1600 Roadster
Congratulations on your find and purchase. Many Datsun enthusiasts consider the '67.5 to be the most desirable year. My first one, back in 1969, was a '67.5. There are a number of good vendors for parts here at this site. I have purchased a number of parts that I have needed, one example is a grill, from eBay sellers. You can get some excellent used, or even new parts at good prices, by just watching and waiting for a good deal.

Well done, sounds like you paid a good price for a desirable car.
So glad to see younger people getting involved. Your generation is KEY to keeping our cars on the road when we old farts are too old, or too dangerous to be behind the wheel.
Welcome and you will find this site invaluable - don't be afraid to ask questions, there are a ton of answers on this site.
I recommend that you take the time to FULLY browse the techwiki. You will find answers to questions you never thought to ask and solutions to problems you don't even know you have.
Welcome
Pete
PS - good to update your avatar with location and year/model. Helps and you might find others in the same area who would be up to assist, or just go for drives with you.
