There are a few guys out there who have done the VG swap in 240s-280s. I met a guy at the 2000 Z Convention who did it. He said the steering column modification was the worst part of the project.

Curious if the Roadster will have a similar issue. I would guess it's a yes, unless we're talking REALLY wide.

The coolest swap I've seen in an old Z was a guy from Japan at the same convention. He dropped a Skyline engine into his 240 (Inline 6, twin turbo). It looked like it was made for the 240. Bet that swap would work in a Roadster with less hassle than the VG. Hmmmmmmm.

450 horsepower at the wheels! Holy moses! We were thinking this lump would be making about 280 or so, still a boatload more than stock.

The motor fit pretty well but the rear end has been a pain in the ass. We're using a Q45 LSD center section and still trying to figure out how to get from the CV axled center section to the u-jointed hubs.

Mike,

I am doing a similar setup on the 510. S15 rear diff with CV's onto the 510 wheel setup with U-Jointed halfshafts.

The current plan (waiting for free machine time) is to make a flange that can be welded to the wheel side CV (with the splined portion removed). The flange will bolt to the 510 the same way the old halfshaft did. The 510 won't know the difference (except for the hp!).

Not familiar with the TR6 but something like this may work. Then again, you have probably thought of this already! TR

I'm currently hot-rodding a Morris Minor Van and here's a link to a fellow in the UK that handbuilt a chassis and widened a Morris Minor body to go on it. It came out very nice..
