My 67 1600's first race-video

Post by zippy67roadster »

I just completed my first race with the completed car and it took 2nd in class and 19th overall out of 30 cars. It drove great and was very predictable. The Maxxis tires got warm but still not quite the running temperature you would like to see. It rained most of the weekend and that caused the track and air temps to be quite cold. I really like how the car handles on them so I think I will stick with them for a bit.

There are two races a weekend and some practice sessions as well. The first race is Saturday and it is the qualifying race. The second race is the actual race (flag race) and it is on Sunday afternoon.

The car is so predictable it is hard to get in trouble with it. It is much easier to drive then the last car I used to race, a 300+hp 95 300zxTT.

That was pretty cool to watch. Curious, before the race actually started, was that warm uo laps? I noticed a bunch of swervey serpentine stuff you were doing.
Was that just having fun, or does it serve to warm up the tires or something?

Excuse my ignorance, but I know nothing about racing whatsoever. I've been at some motocross events, and watched racing on TV. Haha

Yes we have one warm up lap. The swerving helps get heat in the tires and scrub off any rock/debris. You can also see me close up on the car in front of me quickly and then slow way down. This gives me a chance to heat up the brakes as racing compounds take longer to heat up and start to grip.
