1969 1600 Roadster

Hi,
Im new to this forum first of all. I restored my 79' 280zx and love the car, but I would rather have carbs and an older look and less vacuum lines. Someone is selling a 1600 for 2500 and I was wondering about things I could look for/get him to lower the price because of... It doesn't have the rear bumper so I think that is easily a negotiating point, otherwise, what can people tell me about the 69' cars and would I like it better than my 280zx?

'69 is a great year as there are manny upgrades over the '68 and does not have the chunkier side markers of the '70.
You might want to look at the pre '68 models and make sure you don't "need" the flat dash low-windshield look of the early cars.
If you post manny high quality pictures here the Roadster Gurus will be able to come up with an extensive list of incorrect/missing/misleading aspect that can be used as bargaining points.

My guess is that, if you could drive this 69 1600 to Yellowstone and back, its worth the 2500. Bumpers are cheap, compared to a solid drive train.

Could be a 68 registered as a 69. Lots of info on Rallye Enterprise's web site, there's a link in the vendor section. And yes, you will like it better

You will find no better group of car lovers, specifically Roadsters, anywhere... great bunch of people here, and there are no "stupid" questions or immature flaming if you're new. The 1600 won't have the power of your 280zx, but will be way more fun (in my opinion) to drive, and nothing beats a convertible when it comes to driving. More power can be had with a 2000 (U20 engine and a 5 speed) or a swapped engine car if desired. Also note the differences between the early cars (low windshield, flat dash) and the '68 and later cars with the taller windshield and different dash, plus the addition of pollution control systems (that can be removed and will improve performance if done properly).

We have a '69 1600 also.
My wife loves it.
Id rather drive either of our roadsters than my 300ZX.
The 300 is comfortable, smooth and fast but just buzzing around town or down a 2 lane road, it's not really an experience.
.Every time I drive one of the roadsters, they make me smile. There's no power anything so you're truly connected to the driving experience. They never fail to bring a smile and once I'm back in the garage, I'm a little sad the drive is done.
I had an '81 zxt turbo before I bought the 300ZX and now we added the two roadsters.
I'd bet that for anything other than a freeway slog, you'll like the roadster over the 280ZX.
You'll like that they're simple basic cars, no computer, one vacuum line, manual everthing.
