Removed and replaced 37 year old crap door panels for 37 year old nice panels, lol. Cleaned all the surface rust chromed screws and used the best parts from a few sets of doors. Then installed some new door/window rubbers....I figured fitting all these and custom trimming would keep from nicking the later new paint job.

I finished my hardtop refurb over the weekend. All new weather stripping and felt liner and made two new rear hooks for the tensioners. Had a neighbor come and help me get it set on. I also rebuilt my heater control valve so I’ve now got HEAT!

Nice job on your hardtop. It looks well done. Your car looks great as well.

Thank you! It's a bit better than the day I picked it up.

My gas tank is nearing completion. Just did the KBS coatings process, and about to put some gloss black paint on it. I found some SS straps on eBay that I'm going to purchase. Now I just need to find some rubber strap insulators. Someone mentioned something about a Toyota pickup.

Mine is coming to the top of the list soon. Did you use the KBS primarily for the inside? Mine is like new inside. What would I enter for a search for the stainless steel straps?

I have some material on McMaster that I have been eyeing up. It's a closed cell EPDM. Should work, but figured I'd look for the formed rubber first.

Even with a newish look on the interior of the tank, the KBS coating will put a rust preventative surface on the inside. I was going to "paint" it on the outside as well, but decided just to brush it over areas with seams before laying etching primer.

Found the toyota part number with a quick forum search:

I joined this forum. I am frustrated that I have put many dollars into bringing back a 1970 SRL from the dead. All mechanical renewals are completed in order to make it roadworthy. I am now stuck with a Solex problem, seemingly. It ran well for a while and then the slow speed running started misbehaving. Full throttle no problem. I took it back to the British car restorer who agreed to take on this resurection project to see if he could figure it out. He rebuilt the carbs. No change. #1 cylinder was not firing, evidently. He took it to his 'expert' to put their heads together and I got it back with #1 firing but #2 not. His comment was that he thinks it might be the head-gasket. Doesn't seem right to me and I sure don't want to remove the head on a 'might.' Any comments, suggestions? Anyone know of a shop in the mid-Atlantic region up to this? Specifically as close to Delaware as possible.

Bad spark plug wire? Is the firing order correct?
I don't think most shops are smarter than the full collection of experienced owners here. So you are in the right spot... :)

I think you are right about finding the right place. Some emailed replies already. According to the two mechanics who have looked at it, wires are correct, but I guess I'd better check them using the specs in my shop manual. New wires, cap, points, etc. I received one recommendation to check the sparkplug gaps. Logical first step that I can handle. As far as I am aware, no work on the distributor itself has been done.

frustrated.... years ago one of the springs holding the weights inside my distributor broke. I don't recall the exact symptoms, but I remember being frustrated until I found it. Easy to check, might be worth a look.

Actually I also fairly much completed my major Timing chains, all sprockets, new swapped refurbed head with better cam stands, new ground B-Cam, new rockers, lashpads, head gasket and all the rest (pretty much all from JT68) He also helped guide me all the way along! Thanks JT!!!

and also painted the engine and engine bay and installed a new intake manifold, carb lines and such. I need to replace the carbs with the new refurbs soon but I am waiting to get some miles on the rockers and cam before I swap in the newer carbs as I don't want to have to dork with setting up the new carbs with the new rockers and cam in place before those get broken in more.

I also cleaned all the wiring, replaced some connectors and cleaned up everything under there.

I also installed some stickers and a new ID plate. Just trying to bring it all back to life as stuff was getting warn looking.

But basically this job is finally done. I need to start driving it now!!!!!!!

I just need the roads to get cleaned up and dry. We have had 70, yes seventy, inches of rain since Oct 1! the roads are literally falling off the hill on my main road in 3 places. Those wont get fixed until late summer if lucky but as long as they get a bit more dry and some of the dirt gets blown to the side I think I will start taking it out.
