New member, new car

Post by fatmatt »

Howdy, all!
I'm going to pick up my first Roadster today. A little over a month ago a customer asked me if I had ever noticed the little Roadster sitting in a guys driveway a few blocks from my shop. He had been staring at it for years and even left a note on it with no response. I'd never noticed the car (it was kinda tucked away) nor was I even aware of these cars, air cooled VWs and older motorcycles are more my thing. I started checking it out as I drove past once in a while and when a debris box showed up in front of the house along with a big pile of appliances and junk I figured I'd stop by. Got out of the car and pulled out the camera just as the kid that lives there was leaving for work. I asked if he was interested in selling it and he said that, yes, they need to get rid of it soon. He emailed me yesterday. It turns out the car was his fathers who recently passed away, there is no paperwork, it needs to be gone in a few days and he wants $500. SOLD! I have no idea of the mechanical condition but it looks straight, complete and relatively rust free. It has been sitting outdoors for at least 6 years or more and the top is dilapidated so I expect to find some sort of horror inside but we'll see.

Looks like a great deal for a '67. The low windshield models are the best, and this one looks pretty decent and restore-able, or you could just fix it up a little and drive it. You can find out everything you need here at 311s.

I picked up the Squareback built like that about 10 years ago. It was done back in the 70's with an aftermarket body lift kit, rear suspension is lifted by using type 2 reduction boxes with some extra bracing and the front suspension is just blocked up a couple inches. Super fun little car. A 2110cc motor is in the works.

Great Deal! If you post your location you might find some nearby owners who can help you get her running. Good luck!
