SR20DE control module info

Post by bobd »

I have an S13 SR20DE and a coil, but not a control module. They all LOOK the same, but will any control module work?

I see PRW1 and PRW2 and a variety of prices. Ideally, a used coil with bracket and control module would be nice, but I could use my coil and make a bracket if I had a control module.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I had a hard time getting my S13 with external coil to fire. My solution was to get an S14 distributor with an internal coil. Fired right up then.

If I were to do it again, I would convert to an s14 distributor. My s13 system works great but caps, rotors and related replacement parts are not available in the US, s14 parts are. I purchased a complete used s13 ignition assembly for a spare and have sourced, from Japan, spare cap and rotor. FWIW Pat

Yes, I discovered the joy of the S13 when I bought the cap and rotor, but I'll work with what I have for now.
I believe there is a control module in the US that will work, I just need information which is hard to come by.
With the switch to the S14 distributor being so popular, you would think there is a control module for the S13 laying around somewhere.

Well, I got the part number off the coil and found cars that use the coil & then got the part number for the control module that goes with the coil.
Turns out it's available from Walmart among many other places!
Ordered it from Amazon, $41.97 plus tax & free shipping.

If you can't find a ECU for a RWD S13 SR20DE, you can also run them off of a B13 Sentra SE-R ECU, or an 92-3 Infiniti G-20 5-speed ECU.

Thanks! Information to be filed away in case my ECU has a problem.
