300zx Z32 calipers source

Post by andyroo »

I'm planning on the 300zx aluminum brake caliper swap using the Spriso kit and was having trouble sourcing the 26mm rotor width calipers. Takeoffs are out there, but a little more rare than the 30mm calipers. Prices don't seem to be that great and quality is questionable for the well used parts. For my car, I want the 26mm calipers for wheel clearance mostly (a tiny bit less weight is nice too).

I checked out the remanufactured sets and they seem to be a pretty good deal. It took me a minute to figure out which were the 26mm version, but I've got it now.

Part numbers for the aluminum A1CARDONE reman calipers are:
26mm front left: 19-1398
26mm front right: 19-1397

30mm front left: 19-1400
30mm front right: 19-1399

The 30mm caliper is simply the 26mm caliper but with a metal spacer between the two halves. That's the way to tell them apart.

They are available from Summit Racing and Rock Auto for 50-60 bucks per caliper + 35 core charge. Not bad at all. Just search for the part numbers and you'll find them.

Hope that helps!

I don't really know why I put this in the engine swap section...could be moved elsewhere.

Makes sense to me.. There are not many swaps I would consider without a brake upgrade..

I'm used to having a suspension and brakes section on my car messageboards and then spending all my time there. :)

Hi there Andyroo

I'm in the midst of getting the big brake swap for my lady. I found a set of semi loaded 26mm calipers for $150ish on amazon from Reybestos. I have prime so shipping was free :). They seem in good nick and I'm happy with the result.

As for the hat and caliper bracket I'm doing my own. Having an actual background in mechanical engineering I enjoy the figuring it out part of my project. :D

Hope that helps
