Is there an alternative Master Cylinder for a 67 1600?
Everything was working fine until I removed and cleaned all of my brakes, cylinders, and master cylinder. I got the front cylinders resleaved, the rears honed and I have to get a new master. The brake guy said they can't hone the master as it will remove the glaze on them and the brake fluid will eat them up. After spending $760 Cdn on getting the fronts resleaved (yes I live in Canada where everything is expensive and parts unavailable), I was wondering if there was a cheaper alternative Master that I could use and that would fit? I've heard of the 510 but am not sure. Otherwise I have to order again from the states pay the exchange and import duties and heavy taxes and wait forever and it's just killing me.

I feel you man, It took me months to get a firm brake pedal.
I think I remember Gregs672000 saying he got his last one from Rockauto for $15 and he has a '67 so he might be your best bet.

If your car is an early 67 with a single reservoir master cylinder, check out the Tilton 74 series. You may have to rebend the metal line.

Yes it is an early 67 with a single reservoir. Was thinking of switching to the dual but thought it was too big of a job. Your thoughts? Is there anywhere in Canada where they sell Master Cylinders for 67 Datsuns?spl310 wrote:If your car is an early 67 with a single reservoir master cylinder, check out the Tilton 74 series. Oops, sorry, the dual master is for the later cars. A conversion is not usually done due to the firewall as far as I know.

This seems to have two outlets? The spec sheet doesn't tell you anything.spl310 wrote:If your car is an early 67 with a single reservoir master cylinder, check out the Tilton 74 series. You may have to rebend the metal line.

Edit: I see the outlet is on the end. Not sure what the two bored holes on top of the cylinder are for unless it is the machining process.
I see there is also a short 75 series cylinder.

Those holes are alternative mounting points.

When I was researching replacement alternatives, I looked at the Wilwood website and it seemed like one of their single cylinders might work,
but I have not personally tried one...Good luck...

Where can I find a 3/8"-24 (male/female) 90 degree fitting for my master cylinder?
Have a look at the picture. I'm from Canada and I went everywhere and couldn't find a 90 degree male/female 3/8"-24 thread. The closest they had was a 28 thread count as shown. It fit about half way but it is not the same. I don't want to bend my brake line and I don't want to make a short little brake line that I can bend. I want a 90 degree as shown in the picture. If you have them in the states can you tell me where. Haven't really searched online. Was wondering if it is ok to have a 90 degree turn at my master cylinder?

Re: Is there an alternative Master Cylinder for a 67 1600?
I called summit and they said they don't have such a part? I thought it was this part:
https://m.summitracing.com/parts/kys-100-43580090
But the guy said it was not the part I needed. They say they don't have such a part. I'm confused, how do they not make a part that you can make a 3/8"-24 brake line go 90 degrees? Has anybody done what I am trying to do? Go 90 degrees off of my master cylinder using the original brake line?
