Al James G-Production Roadster Racer

Post by richard »

The beginning of the G-production Al Jamer racer.
Straight from the barn. This is how it looks when we start with it.

Whoa! vented front rotors were never legal, had to be solid for GP and even FP (but could upgrade to Z calipers in FP).

Ha! I was thinking the same thing. Either the car was run in EP as a 2000 or in some other class in autocross etc or someone was being sneaky...

It's great that this car has been saved. Are you going to restore it for vintage racing?

Hey Richard, it's good to see the car getting some love. Of all the stuff we sent over the AJ car was the one piece I wanted to keep.

Good luck with the project and please post progress as you go!

That is the definition of a labor of love!
Was the car under water , looks like a lot of rust :(

When I found it it was in a barn, literally. Car is rough but manageable, definitely worth saving.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!

Saw the car in a video on scca.com this morning. It's in the Throwback Thursday video of the "89 runoffs. The start of the race is at 18;40, the car is in the shot at the start of the race, with Col Joe in the shot as well. The car appears again at 19:14. Best of luck with your project.

Metal looks to be in pretty good shape.
Will you maintain all the mods that were done over it's life (some of the holes, etc look to be sort of "hacked".
