No, trying to get much farther from the city. The house is up in Methuen on the NH line.

Yes,
Went to the Fair here in San Diego, have lots of admiration for the craftsmanship required in working with wood.

Finally admitted defeat trying to fix an exhaust leak where the manifold connects to the muffler pipe. Took it to a reputable local exhaust shop and they replicated a new front pipe and put a flare on that makes a perfect seal to the manifold. They spent 3 hours getting the whole system back to like new.and only charged for 1.5) Even has a new old stock correct oem muffler now. Sounds really good and has a nice low rumble at idle. And sounds awesome under wot! :D

On a side comment the engine runs noticeably smoother and i can feel it has stronger acceleration. Im guessing even though the old muffler had pinholes in it was restricting flow compared to the new one

That is all. Pretty happy over here!

I did mine with 6K, you will have to purchase a new housing as old sealed beam has to come out. Welcome, to 311s. 67datsunkc do you have a white roadster? I'm local in Pasadena.

Relocated the MAF on the SR20. MAF was too close to the throttle body. She was making a nice "ka-POW!" in between shifts. MAF would continue reading the air flow once the throttle body slammed shut thus telling the ECU to continue sending gas. Not a big deal but somewhat annoying. Still mocking up for the right air filter but initial tests show that this problem has been solved. See 2nd pic.
B&M short shifter arrived. That's next weekends project. Here's a pic of it mocked up with new red stitched boot + shift knob. Jury's still out on this one. Can't wait to wrestle our stock boot trim ring (again)

Oh and BTW...
MAF = Mass (Air) Flow Sensor.
ECU = Engine Control Unit.

That was on the car when I purchased it. I was under the assumption that it was a factory sound deaden-er of some kind. Half of it was removed. I didn't bother with it during the paint job 2 years ago. Maybe someday. Oh, and you can also see the bondo from the old Datsun emblem location. Maybe someday.

OK Thanks, I've been looking for something to replicate the original, but the best I've found is an aerosol that looks like it will take about ten coats.

Got her ready for Shasta... Oil change (VR1, went 20/50 cause that's what they had), chassis lube, clutch slave adjustment, bug removal which led to a waxing, and straightened up the interior. All that's left is cleaning the wheels some and dressing them a bit, and she's ready to roll. Lookin forward to seeing some old friends and introducing a new one I met last week and convinced to come to the show (Rico), should be fun!

Got a new distributor, a 123ignition. (6 cylinder, they also make one for the L4.)
USB to laptop to set any mechanical and vacuum advance. The yellow wire goes to a dash switch to select between two sets of curves. Also has F1 style spark balancing that monitors and adjusts individual cylinder spark timing to smooth the engine. I am working on getting the rest of the plumbing done, and rounding up stuff for doing the wire harness, but have been too busy with work to get much else done lately.

I noticed my '68 2000 sat much higher in the rear (about 3" at the bumper) than the '69 1600. Then I realized the shackles on the .68 had been reversed.
The '68 had 205 tires when we pulled it out of the shed so I'm guessing the shackles were reversed to gain clearance for the tire/rims.
I'd not been happy wiht the handling of the car. It seemed to wallow a little in the rear.
I put shackles back in the stock position. Took about 4 hours of grunting and cussing but got it done.
I'm concerned about rubbing in the rear. The backspace on my wheeld plus the Falken 195 may rub. We';ll see....
