I read the # as 11198 on both.fj20spl311 wrote:Is it getting late or ?
I don't read that frame VIN as being the same as the plate.
That 5th digit is not a "9" ....look at the font in the ID plate.

Re: 67 1600, whats a fair price?
I hear you. I'm not 100% on this car. Especially at $5000. If I can buy it at anywhere from $2000- $3500 or maybe even $4000 max, I think its worth it. Shipping out from the west coast will run me a bit of change that I have to factor. Plus I'm looking for a project. Need something to do this summer. Let me know if you have something. The passenger side frame doesnt scare me. I've done frames on many cars. Datsuns are one of the easiest and cheapest to fix or replace. I just have to sell one of my many toys this weekend before the wife flips shit again. Lolbakerjf wrote:Don't know if you have a car yet, but there are plenty of matching number examples here on the West Coast, with solid frames... Also, while 67.5 2000's are indeed rare, 67.5 1600's really aren't. Out here, that car would be good for one thing - parts. The economics of trying to turn that into anything makes zero sense me.datsunroadster wrote:Fyi: If Trailer Man faked this ID Tag, dirty engine pad, or frame #'s, tjen he should be working for CSI or as a props specialist. There is/was a guy in Virginia Craig screen name "672000" that had a field of Roadsters.
Might try running him down.

Craig Halsted, 672000 has a lot of stuff he'd be happy to move.

...all good. In addition to matching numbers, "California car it's whole life" would also enhance its pedigree down the road.datsunroadster wrote:I hear you. I'm not 100% on this car. Re: 67 1600, whats a fair price?
obviously in all car realms "numbers matching" is worth something to someone, to me thats exactly the point. Whats it worth to you? It's like an auction, get the right two guys in a room and tug their heart strings with a car and a "new value" can be set for a car. I would assume that trailer guys reserve is at least $2500, and bidding often heats up in the last few hours on ebay. I think if his reserve is below $3k it will sell. I think the car was worth the $2k when I looked at it, but I wasn't exactly desperate/hungry to find one right at this minute (need a new garage first!), so frame rust made it easy to pass up for me, but i'm sure it will make a great project for someone out there.

One less Flipper to worry about.
I hope he at least gets his $2K back, but I would bet he learned his lesion on flipping Datsun Roadsters

Re: 67 1600, whats a fair price?
The 1967.5 Roadster got delivered Friday
I did get it started, just changed wires, rotor, and fuel filter. And bought new battery. I also by passed the gas tank and used a temporary container as a fuel tank and she started right up. Then I had to change the clutch slave and clutch master and she drives fine. But sadly this car will need major rust repair to the frame.
Maybe to much work for me, I might resell it or just drive it for awhile then sell it.
