Pretty sure Gary moved on from his FI throttle bodied system to an SR20 conversion. He was very frustrated after having installed the whole FI system only to find it was making LESS power than his old Mikuni carb engine no matter what he tried. I would love FI, but I've got too much into my Dellortos to do it. Megasquirt is a good DY system, have a friend of friend who is running his turbo Miata on it without problems. Throttle bodies would be way cool!

Man, that just looks so nice Gary! I would seriously go FI if I weren't so happy now with my Dells. Ever figure out what the issue was? I've found a lot of power with a cam timing change... Maybe it wasn't fuel related for you. Did you do the SR?

Even after achieving the best tune possible, EFI was still short on peak power and torque compared to my SK carbs. I never came up with a solid theory why and for other reasons too, decided to abandon the EFI U20 for the SR20DET. A couple of distractions including an auto accident injury have delayed my progress. Now I'm building a larger detached garage to provide more space to work on the SR20 project. I hope to resume that project this summer.

Sorry to hear of the accident Gary, but glad to hear you're on the mend. Things can change in a heartbeat, no? My wife and I are still battling with our insurance company after an illegal alien totaled her BMW Z3 a couple years back now... And of course he had no freakin insurance. Life long injury to her, no consequence to him. I used to be a private investigator back in the day before internet computer searches and would track people like this down to attach assets, but Pemco has not hired me, yet... The trail gets pretty cold with people who are here illegally...

Gary, sorry to learn of your EFI issues. Do you still have your Megasquirt setup? Are you selling it?

I've only just read this forum. I have an EFI U20 in Australia. Using EFI Hardware and a WOLF 3D V400 setup. It's working great. Getting a very solid torque curve that is flat from about 3000rpm to 5500rpm. Peak HP is much the same as a U20 with a B cam (I'm running the same cam) and solex carburettors however the 3D ignition timing gives a lot more control over the midrange and partial/full throttle advance. One issue with the EFI throttle bodies is that they are shorter than the carburettors and the inlet tract runner length is reduced. These engines are sensitive to this and torque suffers. The throttle response is very good now that I've spent some time slowly tweaking the accelerator enrichment curves etc. Sorry to hear that you've had problems Gary. Is anyone else here running an efi setup? I would love to compare notes. I inherited my EFI setup but it's now had a complete retune and tweak. Its a great system when it's setup right.
