Finishing 2 liter grill
Just got it back from the plater/polisher, need to paint the two center slats and background behind the D:
What was the stock color for this, flat black or satin black?
Ideas for best durable finish? Powder Coat? DIY paints that work well?
TIA Paul

Sid - were are you?? One of your favorite subjects.
Satin and would powder coat it for chip resistance. I personally like more of a gloss - stands out a touch more...

I haven't given much thought to the finishing of the stainless parts of the grill. I would like the satin or semi gloss though.

I'm on a cell phone, is it flat, satin/semi-gloss, or gloss?

Re: Finishing 2 liter grill
Of the 3 bars in the middle, the top and bottom bars are painted semi-gloss black and the middle bar is polished to a semi-gloss finish. I always thought all 3 were the same but this is still in the factory box so probably about as period correct as we're gonna get....Unless of course they changed something mid-stream which NEVER happens with these cars

Saw your car at Neil's shop a few weeks back. Outstanding job! Love the color. Was buying a brain bucket for going down the Spec Miata hole. Almost as bad as buying a boat.
