4/3/16 So Cal Petersen Museum meet and El Nino Fun Run-Update

Post by Linda »

Hey All,
Shant and I decided to call a fun run at SCS yesterday.
The Winter Fun Run got preempted last year, but it is back and now happening in Spring....Should be nice and green with the rain we have had, so I am naming it the "El Nino Fun Run", and of course, rain cancels because we are wimps!
So, meet at Super Car Sunday, Macy's parking lot, Woodland Hills, CA, 4/3 opens at 7, and we will plan to leave at 9. This leaves time for socializing, lightweight BS, and cinnamon rolls :) Then off thru the local Santa Monica Mountains roads, route to be determined, but I thought it could be a precursor for those driving up to Solvang. But we will be sure to pass by Paul of Rockstore Photos to get pics, because no pics, didn't happen! A brief pit stop at the top of the Snake, where latecomers can catch us, then on to Neptune's Net for lunch, or you can brown bag it. Then we can disperse, some will return home, or there is also a send off party for the Datsun Z Peking to Paris Run at 2 in Thousand Oaks, so another possibility.
There might be a free raffle with some cheezy prizes too...why not?
Updates forthcoming-
Hope to see anyone who can make it out! RSVP if you like.

WOW, a rare chance to see Linda actually driving her roadster (not just to the garage for repairs!)
Sorry Linda, I will not make it this year. See you and your roadster at Solvang, Right?

What! You are not making it to the fun run? What the heck do you do all day, you ARE retired! :D
Get up off that couch and drive on down, then you'll just be a little early for Solvang....

Added a new pickup coil to the EI distributor today and now the old one is a emergency backup part. I have had the EI for 10 years so just a bit of insurance from an inexpensive part.
Can't be stranded on the fun run!
Of course my OEM radiator blew the other day but I'll be getting a new aluminum one soon.
Great driving weather predicted for April 3rd.

Saw these on Ebay recently. Great price. Not mine.

For the 1600.

Or the 2000 style.

I'm getting the 3 row Champion for the 1600. Limited lifetime warranty. There are aftermarket copies. The 2000 ones are cheaper than the 1600, oddly enough.
Many threads for more details.

Hello all,
Update to the Fun Run. There is a Japanese cruise in at the Petersen Automotive museum, so the new plan is to meet there then do a run afterwards. If you can not make the meet, but want to go on the Run, you can meet us after. Event at Petersen runs ,8A-12, so mid day run with lunch .
RSVP if possible

Bump.
This is next Sunday, should be fun. Join in on the cruise in, or show up for the run only at 12

Linda this looks really fun and I might be passing through LA on the way home to the Bay Area. Are you trying to get all the roadsters to park together?

Hi Alvin,
Yes that would be nice if we could all park together. But it is going to be a traffic jam when they open. It is a 5 floor parking garage and the top floor is the most desirable it appears.
I was thinking to pick a spot, say 4th flr Southeast corner, so drivers could just go there directly instead of looking all over. Trying to assemble before it is open is not easy unless you meet at Starbucks or something. I still like the idea of a designated spot in case someone is late.
You should show up. Just park on the street and walk in.
Are you flying or driving?

If I make it, the car will be filthy and on slicks.. Have track days at Willow Springs Friday and Saturday..

Not sure cruising on slicks is such a great idea.

You need some street tires and wheels, Mike.

OK, all, the plan is to meet at Starbucks, Fairfax and W Olympic Blvd at 730A, the Petersen is on Fairfax and Wilshire, so very close. We will head over and then any late comers can join us. We are heading for rooftop parking.
Linda

Weather forecast is 75°

Wow that is early! I'll do my best to swing by the garage, at least to check things out if I can't meet up with you all. I'm leaving San Diego around 8am so I guess that would put me at the museum at 10am...or wishful thinking?
