40 years later...

Post by John B »

I've always had a soft spot for 2000 roadsters ever since a friend in high schools dad had one. I'm talking 40 years ago. We used to take it out a lot, and I was always amazed how quick it was. I remember it getting rubber in 3rd. I loved the sound of the engine and the 5-speed gearbox. Well, many cars have come and gone in the mean time, but the 2000 itch had never been scratched... until now.

I just acquired this '69 SRL311. It has it's original engine and is fitted with the "High Performance Kit" Mikuni carbs and a "C" cam.
It's on it's way as I write this, and should be arriving next week. I can't wait to scratch that itch...

Very nice looking car. It might be a '68 as it doesn't have the side marker lights. Where are you located?

What he said. Either a '68 or someone shaved them. License plate light on the bumper or no?

Very sweet looking roady. I think you will like the C cam. I have heard nothing but good and have one in my freshly built U20. Enjoy the ride and welcome.

Isn't it funny how these cars get under your skin! I was clay-barring and waxing my car yesterday, reminiscing on my non-stop 30 love affair with this car. I've never "strayed" into the arms (or seat) of another car that wasn't my daily driver... Just this car. Maybe I've been missing something, but I don't think so... There's just something about your first true love, and I fell in love the very first time I saw this car. It's never stopped. I'm glad.

Welcome home!
