its tough to have multiple projects, we are trying to finish race prepping our class 11 vw bug for the Mint 400 but with these fenders in hand it's hard to focus on the final prep!

Here is a shot of our race car

Fun to see a Bug out there still. They are getting harder to find or see on the street, at least around here. A college buddy of mine had one that would do the 1/4 mile in the low 14's (was running out of gears at the end), and it was a terror in the 1/8 mile... Few V8 cars could take him and it got to the point that nobody would race him in the 1/8 mile. That was 30 yrs ago though. It was a cool car.

Those clamps are pretty slick! And that rocker gives me some ideas. I may try a hybrid of what you did and what I've been doing.

Thanks!

Turns out I am very weak when it comes to tools since I just ordered a set of those clamps. I also ordered some clecos too since I think they will be very handy soon. Thanks again.

Ha! Ours isn't that quick, but it sure is fun and always impresses me with what it can do. It can get through some pretty serious stuff, but at the same time, stock parts only hold up to so much abuse so we are constantly rebuilding after races.

My roadster rebuild keeps getting held up by snowmobile repairs, but once I finish the current one it looks like I will be good for the season. 59 degrees here now.

I only had a short amount of time today to progress on the roadster. I decided to work a bit on the front fender. It will take a while to work this out, but I'm still learning the hammer and dolly techniques. The front fender is definitely a bit crinkled but it is healing! Here are before and after shots. I am using the harbor freight hammer and dolly set.

Ok thanks. I have some old hand me down hammers that look a little like these and also an anvil type dolly, however have not used it. I've seen where some folks hammer directly over the dolly and some where they put the dolly under the dent area and hammer around it. I guess the trick is known when to use which technique.

The Datsun has been on hold for a couple weeks as we got through final prep on the race car. We're on our way to the Mint 400 this weekend then back to body work when I return.
