2000 Newbie from SF Bay
Hi everyone!
My name is Jerry from SF Bay Area (Pinole to be specific). I originally wanted a 240z but came across the Roadster on my search. Test rode both and at the end chose the roadster due to its fun factor. After literally checking craigslist and eBay daily for a roadster in the last 2 months, I finally pulled the trigger and acquired my new therapist. The previous owner is a motor head who builds and races pro comp 6 second drag cars down in Riverside. They rebuild the motor and added a cam, header and a full exhaust system. To say that driving this car is fun is an understatement. It never fails to put a big smile on my face as well as attention from others.
I have been going into this website prior to my purchase and it amazes me how much information and help you can acquire from fellow members. I look forward to meeting other SF Bay members and learning more about the roadster.

Welcome aboard, glad to hear you used the site to do your research prior to purchase. Looks like a nice, well-sorted ride. How about some more detailed pictures?

Re: 2000 Newbie from SF Bay
Welcome to the family! Would be interesting to see what it has for a cam, compression ratio, custom or purchased header etc given the builder. You might ask if they timed the cam, or checked it. I recently discovered that my cam was way out of time, and using one of the adjustable gears available here (I got JT68's version) was able to eyeball it back toward (at?) stock, and it made a huge difference in my engine. If the previous builders are willing to work with you, you might get them to help you out with that considering their experience. Be aware that a U20 is an interference engine so if you go crazy on cam timing one way or the other you could run the risk of a bent valve if the cam is big, but mine was several degrees off on a 11.7 to 1 compression ratio engine and I was ok. Lots of support and good people here with little or no ego, so don't hesitate to ask questions or post stuff... there are no stupid questions and we like helping other Roadster owners... truly a family here. Car looks great!

Re: 2000 Newbie from SF Bay
Hi Greg,
According to the previous owner it was a mild cam meant to help with the low end torque. A Datsun truck 5 speed transmission was also swapped in place of the original one. Going by their experience building motors, I would like to think that they did everything right. Head was resurfaced and valve job done only to make sure that compression was good per previous owner. Not sure about the header but I'll contact him and asked some of these questions.
This site is really awesome! I started following and reading the postings here back in November before my purchased and have been amazed at everyone's knowledge and willingness to help others. Indeed it is a great family. I attached an image of the motor but not sure why its not showing up.

Hi Jerry,
Awesome ride. Looks like we both got our roadsters around the same time. Send me a PM and we can start to figure things out.

Thanks Steve for resizing the image. I'm still trying to figure out how to work get around the site. This site has tons of info and members willing to help.
Hi Mat,
San Pablo/Bear Creak is my playground. I usually ride my road bike there on weekend and weekdays. After the rain let's meet at Starbucks in Orinda. I'll text you my cell #

Welcome Jerry, I don't see the raised OHC or Nissan on your valve cover, is it a poor pic or are they missing? Mike
