66 1600 in the Bay Area
Hi Everyone,
Long time Datsun/Nissan owner first time roadster owner!!
So for xmas I wanted to get a fun project and found this 1966 for sale. It came with a hard top (needs love), soft tops (needs tons of love), extra doors, carbs and three boxes of goodies, and then you can see in the pictures the rest. Took her to a shop here in SF and they wanted 1700 to replace the front calipers, and rebuild the SU carbs. I kind of want to upgrade the master cylinder but not sure to what extent.
Going to redo the brakes myself in the next couple of weeks, but wanted to know who lives in the bar area that can meet up and I can pick your brain. I for sure want the hard top in perfect condition, add a role bar and I would love to have about 150-200 whp, so which diff do you all recommend?
Lots of questions and will take my time on rebuilding so no rush.

Nice score and welcome to the madness. You have plenty of Bay Area folks to get some help and ideas from. Looks like a great project. Keep us posted on your progress.

Welcome looks like a solid start that will keep you busy for awhile. If you are looking for 150-200 WHP you ought to start looking at an engine that will get you there before worrying about the differential!
Thanks for posting the pictures, good luck and ask away with questions! Lots of Bay area Roadster lovers nearby!

Yeah I think I got a good deal. Currently right now trying to fix all the small things. Also not sure about the color, I like the red, but in silver or black it looks really classy.
First things first. Breaks and getting the instruments to all work properly.

If your in SF, the name you need to know is Mike Young. For 200whp, better start saving for some form of swap as the cost effective option.

Congrats!! I also saw that car on craigslist but I ended up getting the one in Riverside. I just got mine last weekend also and in need of other fellow bay area roadster owner's help. When the rain stops perhaps we can invite other Bay Area owners to give us both some kind of roadster 101.

Datsunrides already been talking to Mike. Guy is a wealth of knowledge.
As for the swap I have a few motors in storage I might use, probably going to do something crazy like an SR20 running carbs but that part won't start till I get the car fully done first.
