I just received from the DMV, a California historical vehicle plate. It's white with red numbers. My car is red, so it matches. Looks very cool.

Cool Howard!

Are there restrictions about when/how you can drive with a historic plate?

According to the dmv, you have to prove that you have another car as a daily driver. The Datsun should be driven to and from club meetings, car shows, and occasional club runs. Obviously these are rules that you can rationalize. I'm not sure of all the criteria to qualify for the historic plate. But I believe it has to be built before 1970 or 1972. And should have some historic significance. I wrote down that the srl/spl was the first Japanese convertable exported to California. And that less than 100 are still registered in California.(I don't really know the actual number).

I like the plate frame... it doesnt stick out like a sore thumb like they do on newer cars when they are black plastic. Like Alvin said, looks right at home!
