Brake questions

Post by jhdj250 »

Guys,

I know I have depended on you a lot and you have have helped a bunch. I have brakes now. Finally got the parts in and have the brakes working.

The question is:

Why are the front brakes grabbing? The are constantly on. What did I do wrong?

take the wheel off and pry the calipers back.... they might be froze. Also make sure you dont have an air leak.
Good luck!

The front caliper pistons tend to collect moisture, rust and gunk in them. If you do not open them and clean out the junk and just press them back in order to instal new pads, they may be jammed or the lines could be clogged.
Another possibility? Front brakes working o.k., back ones not?

Guys,

The front brakes have new slave cylinders and new pads.

The rear brakes have rebuilt cylinders. I honed the rear cylinders smooth. They work fine or at least it seems that way.

I have bleed the brakes and no longer see any air in the fluid.

I've had a master cylinder that got gunk in the little hole at teh bottom of the reservoir. The brake fluid could be pumped to the brakes but couldn't releive pressure into the reservoir.

Did you use new flexable hoses or the old ones?

I believe that sometimes they can be the cause of the brakes not releasing.

Anyone else had that problem?
