So I have a 2 day track day coming up in a couple weeks, so I started doing the inspection on my car..
First, found a broken motor mount..
Also noticed that I had taken a pretty good rock strike to the oil pan. It looked like a safe dent.
Last, I asked the tuner to look into some rough idle and just on tiny throttle. He found a dead o2 sensor, which at over 30k miles, he said was just about due. So he turned it off in the computer so it drove smoothly until I could replace it.
Drove the car to Kevin's to swap out the mounts and the sensor. Mounts were easily done, when they came out it was obvious they were done..lol
While we were down there, Kevin mentioned that the oil pan was leaking from a tiny crack in the dent. So it needed to come off.
The good news is that we got to check the status of the motor after 30k+ miles, and the answer is the pan was spotless. I gotta admit that it was a pleasant surprise to see the pan and windage tray so clean after the way I abuse this motor. I mean, we built it to spin and spin hard, and all that, blah blah blah... But to see that it is all working was really nice and reassuring..
After we got the pan glued on, and the o2 sensor installed, I called the tuner, and he walked me thru turning on the sensor with my phone. Motor started, and it feels brand new. I have a couple more things to do before the track day, but it all looks good at this point!
