Best Tires for 1965 1500?

Which not-so-expensive tire would you guys recommend for a 1965 1500?thanks

Mark Dent has a theory, which I like. For original type tires, get the "4 Tires for $100.00 Specials" or equivilent. It's an old theory, prices are higher now. Reason is they are usually pretty soft, good grip and with the mileage most of us put on the cars will dry rot before you wear them out anyway.
Tireeasy.com lists a Federal SS-657 for $53.00 ea, would probably work well.

For a performance tire, I like Falken. Simple Tire.com has Falken ZE912 P185/65R14 for $37.99, smoking deal. In Fact I might order a set, they're an hour from me..
Shipping way out there to the left side of the country is about $90.00, so $250.00 total, still not bad

Thanks to the goofy lowrider kids in CA we can get 13" 155-80 tall tires that replicate the original tire stance.
AND with the correct narrow white wall for 1964-65.
I have picked up a set on line for about $35 each.
Have them on my 64 now and they are OK and look great.
They are not a "performance" tire but neither is your normal 85HP 1500.
As little mileage as most put on their roadsters they tires will last as long as their owners!

Demerit for Brisco who apparently forgot that 1500's have/came with 13" tires.

Which rims would match those? i have the crappiest tires and fugly rims on Roadster, and that makes me sad

If you have stock 13" wheels, get them powder coated and you will not be sad
and you get "cred" for keeping your 1500 stock. If you do not have the OEM hub caps the
powder coated wheels will still not look very good.
If you have non stock wheels, well shame on you
