New Datsun 1600 owner

Post by jnnt29 »

I wanted to introduce myself to the group. My name is Jon and I'm from Northern New Jersey. I recently picked up a 1966 1600. It is not perfect, but what a great car to drive. My wife says I haven't stopped smiling since I first drove it. I have a lot to learn and look forward to learning from the group.

Welcome, she looks great, and the wife is spot on. Enjoy the ride, and questions are welcomed, we have all been there and all been helped out by the knowledge of this great group. (And our multitude of mistakes)

Welcome, and get used to your face hurting from all that smiling as it never goes away!! Good looking driver you have there. Please enjoy it for awhile before you decide if you want to restore it.

Guys, thank you for the warm welcome. My 1600 has been dormant for seven years prior to me getting from my Brother in-law. When he stopped driving it he drain all of the fuel from the tank and the carburetors. A week ago we filled the gas tank and primed the carbs, put in a new battery and it started right up. Here are a couple of new pictures.

Unfortunately my family will be away and I haven't driven that car too far yet. I'll put it on the calendar for next year though!

Small world! I'm in Livingston about 30 minutes from Far Hills. It would be great to find fellow owners locally.

Thats a good looking car! Since it's been sitting a while, get all the bugs out. And drive it. While to some it's just a lowly 96 hp 1600, they in good shape are surprisingly quick!
Resist all urges to take it apart, restore, or motor swap it!

Drive it, and get it sorted. They are LOTS of fun.
Will trade guitars for roadsters, food, shelter, clothes, etc, etc.
