Back to Roadsters after 28 years!

Post by dustybarn »

Back in high school and college ('85-89) my DD was a '66, which succumbed to cancer around '87. I moved on to a bunch of other cars, including a TR4 and a Delorean, both of which I still have. On Friday a co-worker (who has a '66 in his parents' garage in Japan) alerted me to a Craigslist ad for a '67. Tonight I brought it to its new home. It's really solid but hasn't been on the road since 1991. The brakes and clutch hydraulics need work but it has solid floors, solid sills, and the original jack and radio aerial. It also came with a white fiberglass hardtop which looks a lot like the OEM ones that I've heard of but never seen in person.

It has an SR grille for some reason even though it's a 1600.

I'm looking forward to sorting it out and driving a Roadster for the first time since Reagan was President!

Here are a couple of pictures that show the top (I took it off for trailering because I didn't trust it to stay on). Sorry about the terrible cell phone photo; it was after dark by the time I returned the trailer.

Welcome! Another upstate NY member. Be sure to come on down to Watkins Glen the weekend after Labor day. There is a gathering put on by Dave (dbrick) and Linda Brisco with help from a great crew.
A show and shine at the State Park on Saturday, starts about 8am, and finishes with a great dinner and awards show. I went home with the first annual award for the biggest oil slick which I hope to pass on!

My heart started racing when I saw the 2000 grill and the low windshield, thinking that someone had stumbled upon an unknown 67 2000... not, but nothing wrong with the R16! Congrats on your return to the family! "Where we're going, we don't need roads..." R Reagan

I was away all weekend at a Civil War reenactment so I only got to work on it to about an hour this evening. A little bit of elbow grease applied to the fusebox terminals brought the turn signals and wipers back to life. No headlights yet, but they can wait for another day.
